Programs

Within the programs in favour of the Russian-German minority, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH organises various projects in Russia and in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in order to support the economic, social and legal situation of this minority.
These projects aim to offer this German minority an alternative to emigration. It should enable them to contribute to the development of their home country as responsible citizens but also to maintain close relations to Germany.

In the Russian Federation, the main emphasis lays at present on supporting German minority centres, on organising German language courses, language summer camps, youth work, as well as cultural, humanitarian and society-building measures. Furthermore, the professional education and qualification of the German minority should be enhanced in order to improve their chances in the Russian labour market.

The “BiZ – Bildungs- und Informationszentrum” (the Educational and Information Centre) offers targeted further education courses according to its central themes to support the staff of Russian-German organisations and centres.

The work for the benefit of the Russian-German minority in Russia is part of the “Programme for National Minorities” which is carried out by GIZ on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community.
